Eye of the Storm
First, I want to thank everyone very much for indulging me in my explorations with these creations! They are definitely a departure from my norm but have struck a real chord with the right side of my brain.
Today’s shot was a little challenging from a perspective of framing. So far the wide format images that I’ve posted have been composites created by mirroring an image against itself on a wider canvas and have only been cropped to remove any distortion I created. The standard format shots have been cropped ever so slightly at a 12×8 frame (thanks to Chris Nitz and David Baker for sharing with me that my crop sensor captures almost perfectly to this size!).
This one, however, is a single frame that I felt needed a bit of a trim. Ok, more of a buzz-cut than a trim! The original had more negative space above and below the ‘eye’ than I had hoped and to get the format that needed some of the outer edges had to be sacrificed. Once it was done though, I feel that it actually helps draw you into the frame by eliminating the extra ‘clutter’ that could otherwise distract you.
What do you think?

This is a great series – such a subtle set of images. I particularly like this one and the crop looks just right. Well done.

Another creative abstract Curt. I like the cropping as it frames the “eye” quite well.
