Separated by Time
A stone and brick wall surrounds the markers of a family plot in Sinking Springs Cemetery in Abingdon, Virginia. Plots in this cemetery date from the time of the Revolutionary War through today with the vast majority being from Civil War era. Family burial plots were often separated by walls, borders and iron fences, many of which are still present. Many of the markers here are so old that the engravings have completely eroded leaving only a weathered stone. These particular markers date from the World War I era and are still in fairly good condition.
