Silo at Sunset
The orange glow of sunset illuminates an abandoned grain silo and casts a cold shadow on an adjacent barn door.
I have tried several times to capture an image of this structure that I felt simultaneously evoked both a sense of warmth and abandonment. This barn is within yards of the house with which it shared what was once fertile farmland. While both have been physically abandoned for several years they continue to stand alongside each other, stark reminders of a way of life long since gone.
The image was processed in Lightroom 3 and tonemapped in Photomatix 4.
