Bullet Train
The fifties and sixties were characterized by dreams of the fantastic future that awaited those of us living today. These forward looking thoughts and ideas can also be found in the accents adorning the vehicles of the time. In today’s photo, we see the streamlined fender mounted lights that in some ways resemble the bullet trains found in Japan and Europe today.
While the chrome surrounding the fender light definitely stood out in this image, the entire hood and fender of the car were a bright orange rust color that completely dominated and overpowered the frame. On a whim, I decided to try a black and white conversion to see if would help tone down the image a little. Happily, it seemed to work out pretty well!

Very nice!
Very dynamic, and it looks incrediable in black and white.
wonderful comp Curt, loving this shot! would enjoy the color too for comparison purposes since I err on that side of things, but this BW treatment is top notch!!
Really great curt…i like how the image fades in the background…well done!
I like the way the light seems to be coming right at you like a streak. Nicely captured and processed.
Sweet shot! Great work with the comp and B&W conversion!
Love the texture and everything streamlined! B&W definitely enhances the beautiful fluid contours.
Love those curves man, great stuff!
Love car shots, even if they are trains.
So love the comp you picked for this. This is such a great detail shot!!
Yeah, It really looks like a bullet train – fantastic shot Curt. The B/W totally works here. Awesome.
Great capture Curt, love the use of isolation to create a cool abstract
That’s a nice composition. Didn’t know what it was when I first glanced at it.
