Hiding in Plain Sight
I have a bad habit of overlooking the smaller and simpler compositions when I’m out stomping through the woods. I would have overlooked this one too had the river bank not been so steep. While climbing back up to the road it was literally staring me in the face. Tucked into the shade of the bank and obscured by ferns was this single mushroom just waiting.
Finding a way to highlight it proved to be a bit more elusive. After a few moments of study I found that I could frame it with the same ferns that almost hid it from sight. Combining that framing with a shallow depth of field helped to pull the little mushroom out of the background.
