Surf City Here We Come

Surf City Pier, North Carolina

One of our unplanned stops while on the North Carolina coast was Surf City. We had not originally planned to travel this far south but the lure of cloud cover from an approaching storm system was too much to resist. Rain from the system eventually drove us off the beach but we were able to spent a couple of hours shooting. The sky was constantly changing shape from flat and smooth to turbulent and choppy. It provided an amazing backdrop all afternoon.

Man I wish I was able to have gone with you guys. Surf City is just south of where I spent my high school and early college years. I’m guessing that you all had to travel through Jacksonville to get up north from Surf City. I also lived in Plymouth for a few years when I was younger, that’s about 1 hour west from Nags Head and that general area. Still jealous that you all got to go out there.

It’s the colour that catches my eye – the way that where the ocean ends the uprights take over with their muted turquoise colours. Nice shot, Curt.

Nicely composed Curt. You are right about the backdrop.
