Silver Tongue

Silver Tongue

Today’s image is one of the last shots I was able to shoot on a quick weekend trip to Damascus, Virginia a few Sundays ago. All that remains of the beautiful colors of fall is the leaf litter along the banks of the river but the vibrant greens of the mountain laurel persist. How Many Miles

How Many Miles

Sometimes the smallest details are the very thing that come to symbolize and remind you of a place. To me these concrete mile posts are synonymous with the Blue Ridge Parkway because no matter how much the scenery changes they remain constant. Little Stoney Creek

Little Stoney Creek

I had hoped to be able to shoot the largest of the falls, a 60 foot curtain with a bridge crossing above it, but the only access road had all been closed by the Park Service so I opted to try my luck with the smaller falls. This is one of the many cascades...

Woodland Shelf

Woodland Shelf

While on one of my several hikes over the last few weekends I came across this large shelf lichen growing on the side of a tree. I see these all of the time but this one was very large (as shelf lichen goes) and growing right at eye level. Usually this type of fungus is growing closer to the ground where it’s dark and moist so it couldn’t help but catch my attention. I ran this image through OnOne PhotoTools 2.6 to add a Color and...
