Hands Raised High

Hands Raised High

Today’s image comes from the archives of my 2011 fall road trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway. During those 3 days, I made a point to shoot very simple compositions of trees along the trails and paths that I hiked while collecting waterfall images. I wasn’t exactly sure how I would use them at the time but I had a few ideas in mind, one of which was to create works such as this one. Gear: Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF-S 18-135mm...

Blown Away

This is a different perspective on the same structure that I posted in Overflow a few days ago. With a little trial and error I was finally able to line up the direction of the clouds with the angle of the pylon. Other than a massive amount of spot removal (the wind was blowing dust everywhere) processing was pretty straightforward, after a few adjustments in Lightroom I passed the frame through Topaz Black and White Effects then Denoise....

Overflow

The base of the intake is probably 15-feet high and there are at least six of these...

After spending the morning shooting streams in the mountains I decided to close out the day with some long exposure shooting by the lake. I’ve had a shot like this in mind since I bought my filter kit several months ago but the right circumstances of...

After Glow

After Glow

This is the last in a set of guitar images that I posted last week. For this image, the guitar body was shot against a black backdrop with a single speedlite. I masked the black background to solid black in Photoshop before sending it to PhotoTools for some styling. I used the Blur Tool in Photoshop to soften the edge of the guitar body against the background and sent it back to Lightroom for a few final tweaks. Hope everyone has a great...
