Take A Walk With Me

Today we go back to downtown Abingdon, Virginia and the extended grounds of the Barter Theater. Directly across the street from the theater is a beautifully manicured green with a paver walkway leading to a secondary theater called Barter Stage II. At the base of these stairs (directly behind my camera in this setup) is a large statue fountain that was unfortunately undergoing maintenance on this day. I shot this image just as the sun was setting behind me so the lamp posts lining the walkway were just beginning to turn on.

This comes across so well – the colours, the composition and the fact that the lights are on. If they were switched off the image would definitely lose something that’s important to it.

The illuminated street laps really make this shot, Curt. Also like the fish-eye effect on the bricks in the foreground – makes the simple gaps between the bricks much more interesting.

Really great shot, Curt. The symmetry is nice, and you got some lovely detail in those bushes.

I like that you managed to snag this as the lights were coming on. It also looks like the sky was playing nice for a sunset shoot?
